On the first week, as usual I will start off by going through the assignment briefing and MIB to make sure I did not miss out any important details. Following that, I proceed to look around the house and capture a few pictures basically just to get more options and inspirations of my personal spaces that can fit my drawing convention on plan, elevation and section views. After I had gathered up as many options as I can, I continue to finalise my choices which is my bedroom, study room and living room. I proceed to capture picture from different perspectives in different spaces to have a better understanding of my space and come up with the best possible option.

I was able to make a choice quickly and decided to proceed by drawing my bedroom. Without further ado, I start measure the space in my bedroom including the thickness of wall and windows. I was able to obtain accurate length, height, width of every object that I choose to portray in my drawing with tape measure. After getting approvals from my lecturer Mr Akmal, I continue to observe minor details such as mini table, lamp and fan and to ensure I have the right convention.

WEEK 6: PROVIDING PICTURES OF SELECTED ITEM

During week 6, I am satisfied the amount of conventions I gathered and ready to start off my assignment. I then proceed to show Mr Akmal pictures that I captured from my finalised space which is my bedroom during the tutorial session and obtained his approval. I then proceed to draft my title block according to the requirement and proper dimension.

I also made a mini sketch on my iPad of roughly how my floor plan should look like before proceeding to draw it on paper.

WEEK 7: DRAWING & DEVELOPING FLOOR PLAN

On Week 7, I started to work on my floor plan. I found it extremely difficult to get used to the measurement on the scale ruler as it is completely different compare to a normal ruler. Through lecturer classes given by Mr Akmal I have a better understanding of how the space and each symbol for different component such as the windows, door swing line, and wall material should look like.

WEEK 8 : LONGITUDINAL & HORIZONTAL ELEVATION DRAWING

During week 8, I had begin the construction of my elevations drawing. In order to show a different perspective from my section view, I redrew my longitudinal elevation with proper convention.

Meanwhile, I also started a rough sketch of my section view and presented during tutorial class.

WEEK 9 : COMPLETION OF SECTION DRAWING & FURNITURE DRAWING

Week 9 is a crucial week mainly because there is more drawings that are needed to be completed. I had some difficulties drawing my section view since it took a little bit of imagination and some time to research such as the material of a wall and standard beam length. I also took some time to choose a furniture in my room that not only is presentable but also comes with great details.

WEEK 10 : MAKE AMENDMENTS AND ADDING ANNOTATIONS.

Week 10 was a much relaxing week since most drawings and architecture writings were completed. I did not forget to include all annotations and fill in the measurements and labels. I also do a last and final checking on the overall format of each drawings.

Unfortunately the measurement of walls on my floor plan are incorrect. Since I had inked it, I redrew another one and make amendments on the wall.

I also asked for more feedbacks and improvements from Mr Akmal and make sure I double checked everything to avoid mistakes.

The Outcome

This assignment was a challenging one as it was hard to replicate a scaled-down technical drawing on paper. Other than that, this assignment also requires extreme precision and to be mindful of all measurements in orderproduce an accurate drawing. Overall this assignment gave me a lot of knowledge on how to produce technical drawings of real life spaces.

My Reflection

1. Intrapersonal Skills

I was able to properly organised my time schedule based on the workload. I felt that I became better at time management since I am ahead of the schedule. With that being said, I was able to double check for mistakes and maintain a healthy emotional status.

2. Lifelong Learning

Throughout the assignment, I was able to gain new and extra knowledge regarding technical drawing skills. Despite the fact that I was already introduced to scale drawing, using a scale ruler is still complete new to me. Not only that, I were to stay focus and be picky on every little details and measurements to ensure a satisfying outcome. This assignment definitely opened my eyes and I am glad to take in new knowledge that could possibly be useful and help me in the future.

3. Thinking and Problem Solving Skills

This assignment definitely challenged my thinking skill since there so many annotations and new symbols that are needed to be included in the assignment. This definitely gave a tough time to keep things neat while also being able to include all informations. Through out the process, I also made major mistakes that required me to redraw a whole plan that put me in the position to rethink about what I did wrong.
