WEEK 10: GROUP DISCUSSION & RESEARCH

Not long after the assignment briefing, we created a group for ITD Final Assignment. We were given 3 different layouts. After further discussion, we decided to talk go with Option A. We then proceed to come up with a meeting plan so that everyone can discuss about site plans, structure and material of the house, and furnitures.

I came up with multiple designs for our company logo and asked for my group member's opinion during the meeting.

We created a google docs to compile our informations. Any group members who wish to add on or make modifications are allowed to do so. It is very convenient and easy to access  whenever I need it for references.

WEEK 11: COMPLETION OF SITE PLAN & FLOOR PLAN DRAWING

After gathering sufficient information regarding the furnitures and material for overall structure, I proceed to draw out my site plan and floor plan with scale ruler and measurements based on furnitures from IKEA website.

Before drawing it on the paper I also drafted a mini arrangement of basically how I want the furnitures arrangement to avoid major arrangements in the future which can be troublesome if ergonomic mistakes were made.

These drawings are based on the scale 1:50.

WEEK 12: COMPLETION OF ELEVATION DRAWINGS

After informing Mr Akmal and asked for approval to proceed. I then continue with my elevation drawing.

The process of drawing the elevation were easier and less complicated compared to the floor plan since there's no need to include furnitures or display the interior of the house.

I'd also started a draft of my section plan. It is based on actual measurements and scales although it is just a draft.

WEEK 13: COMPLETION OF SECTION DRAWING

Week 14 is a crucial week, all drawings are to be double checked upon submitting. 

I have a habit of only adding the architecture letterings, measurements and annotations after I complete my drawings

WEEK 14: COMPLETION OF ALL DRAWINGS

Week 14 is a crucial week, all drawings are to be double checked upon submitting. 

I have a habit of only adding the architecture letterings, measurements and annotations after I complete my drawings. This habit made the week slightly more hectic for me since I did not realised that there's actually much more details and annotations that I need to include.

I made my final adjustments to the floor plan and manage to add in a few more furnitures mostly in the bedroom such as study table, chair, table lamp, and room partition.

I did not forget to update Mr Akmal one last time before inking it. After finalising all my drawings and double checking all my measurements. I proceed with the annotations, architectural writings measurements.

The Outcome

Overall this assignment clearly increased significantly in terms of difficulty. However, I've noticed that my drawings are more accurate and I became a more detailed person overtime. Personally, I've gained a lot of new knowledges since day 1 and looking back to when I just started this module it definitely amaze me. The biggest challenge however would be dealing with extra workload due to non participating group mate. The group assignment became harder since it is difficult to compromise with everyone as some of them rarely or do not show up during discussions at all.

1. Communication Skills

Although some of my group mates were inoperative, but I was lucky enough to be in the same group with one of my good friend and truth is, we were able to spend quality time together just by discussing about the assignment. Furthermore, I also figured out ways to communicate and contact them for their opinion and encourage them to be on time during meetings. Sometimes, I also have the opportunity to help my group mate out despite the language barrier.

2. Digital Literacy

During this COVID-19 outbreak, it is considered troublesome for some of us to contact each other. Luckily, we were able to utilise social media platforms to communicate with each other such as WhatsApp and Teams. Through google docs, we can share our script and everyone is able to edit and add on informations which was a very beneficial application for us.

3. Intrapersonal Skills

In this assignment, I took the initiative to take up extra workloads. I learnt to bear the responsibility since the outcome of the presentation depends a lot on me and the corporation of my group mates. In order to make sure I will be satisfied with the end result, I always double check the Google Docs to make sure there's minimal to no mistakes.
